The Main Company

Charlie Main earned a BS in Construction Management from Chico State in 1983. He spent 5 years learning estimating, bidding and project management while working for a $100 million construction firm in Sacramento, Ca.

In 1988 The Main Company moved to the Big Island of Hawaii and spent 8 years working in the high-end custom home industry. The high point of his work in Hawaii was a project called “Palmtree” which was a design-build effort at Mauna Lani Resort. This 5000sf home built on a lava bluff was featured in the August 94 issue of Hawaii Island Home Magazine.

In 1997 Charlie and family relocated to San Luis Obispo and built a 3 story home, with numerous cantilevers and corner glass windows designed by John Rattenbury – a Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice. The house is to be featured in John’s upcoming new book – “Living with Frank Lloyd Wright.”

Recent projects include successful low bidder on Vance Residence, negotiated design build on Brohaugh Residence, and a major reconstruction of a downtown Paso Robles landmark building. The Main Company has also been instrumental in community service, contributing time, energy and effort on San Luis Obispo High School's Tiger Plaza and free consulting on DeVaul Ranch - alocal homeless shelter.

Terri Main is the CEO, CFO, chief cook and bottle washer of The Main Company. A Computer Science graduate, she worked for Hewlet-Packard for 5 years prior to focusing 100% of her time and energy on the accounting and administrative work of the family business. Many years of experience have streamlined TMC’s accounting systems and helped the company grow by timely delivery of both accounts payable and accounts receivable. A ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant), Terri’s stewardship has helped The Main Company remain profitable with a strong balance sheet.
